ASUU Seeks Buhari Intervention on the Issues Facing the University of Lagos

The National President of the University Academic Staff Union (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the issue that has shaken the University of Lagos (UNILAG) due to the expulsion of Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as Vice President.

The advisory board advises the president to set up a special monitoring team to investigate the removal of the VC.

Ogundipe was removed from office by the Business Council, led by Wale Babalakin, on financial charges.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Ogunyemi said: “The ASUU leader received information about the alleged removal of another expert from the University of Lagos. on the board by Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN) with shock. and all upset.

“We are not satisfied because we view Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as a saint, but because all the evidence has shown that it is not in accordance with the practice.

Although Dr. Babalakin’s active efforts to counter the skepticism is futile, it is now clear to all that there is more to the story from the oldest of the Bar.

ASUU supports the UNILAG Senate’s refusal to comply with Dr. Babalakin’s grievance of the Executive Committee’s decision to remove the Vice President.

“We have called on Mr. El Presidente, a guest at the University of Lagos, to set up a Special Visiting Team to investigate the immediate and far-reaching nature of the situation. There are allegations of Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as VC at UNILAG with a view to bringing all the faults to the book. ”

The Company has determined that the Vice President’s office on the 11th floor has not yet been approved by Ag Vice President Chancellor, Prof. Theophilus Soyombo, who was elected last Thursday.

Yesterday, security was tight around the Senate building. Our messengers were denied because the VC was not nearby.

A member of the Information Center said that Soyombo has resumed his work but has been working through his office into the Office of Social Science.

“We are waiting for the government to intervene in this matter.”
